TORQUAY UNITED are running the rule over Gibraltar international goalkeeper Jamie Robba after taking the stopper on trial.

The 24-year-old has won seven caps for his country and currently plays for Gibraltarian side Lynx after a spell with French fourth tier outfit US Le Pontet last season.

However, he is looking at a move into English football and he has been given an opportunity to impress Torquay boss Kevin Nicholson.

“He was one that Robbie Herrera (assistant manager) found,” Nicholson told BBC Radio Devon. “He’s the Gibraltar number two international goalkeeper, so we’ll have a look at him and see.”

Torquay currently have American keeper Brendan Moore on their books after a successful loan spell at the end of last season from Fleetwood Town.

Robba was in goal for five of Gibraltar’s Euro 2016 qualifiers and conceded 26 times as the Rock struggled in their first campaign as UEFA members.
