DAVE ANDERSON has been placed in charge of Evo-Stik NPL Division One North side Goole AFC following six years in charge of Barton Town Old Boys.

Anderson, a former Vikings player, left Barton in the summer following a successful reign in which he led the club to promotion to the Northern Counties East League Premier.

He has been brought in to replace Lee Morris, who left on Friday to take the reins at Evo-Stik NPL Premier outfit Frickley Athletic following Karl Rose’s departure.

Morris, 33, was only appointed Goole boss in in February, succeeding Alan Semley after leaving Evo-Stik NPL Division One South club Shaw Lane.

The Vikings are current second bottom of the league and have picked up just one point from their opening five fixtures.

The returning Anderson, a former boss of Westella, has brought his assistant at Barton, Mally Parker, with him to Goole as they look to get the club climbing up the table.

A club statement read: “Goole AFC are delighted to announce the appointment of Dave Anderson as first team manager.

“Dave started playing at Hull City before spells with North Ferriby, Goole Town, Winterton and Barton Town, he then moved into management with Westella before spending six years at Barton Town, gaining promotion to Northern Counties East League Premier Division in his first full season.

“Dave will be assisted by Mally Parker and both are keen to get started and are looking forward to meeting the squad ahead of training later this week before their first game in charge at Colwyn Bay on Saturday.”
