RADCLIFFE BOROUGH have called on the local community to support the club after half of their main stand was destroyed by fire.

Fire crews were called to the club’s Taurus Park home at around 7.30pm on Sunday evening to find the stand engulfed in flames.

The PA box, press room and half of the stand have been wrecked by the blaze, which Greater Manchester Police are treating as arson.

The Boro are hoping for a big crowd and a show of support from the local community as the club looks to get back on its feet as quickly as possible.

Chairman Paul Hilton said: “It’s a massive blow but we’re hoping the community rallies round the club and helps us out.

“We’re going to carry on regardless and not let this destroy us. We’ve been overwhelmed by the messages we’ve received and offers of help and even financial donations. It is greatly appreciated.

“It would mean the world to us if our fans, the local community, which we work so passionately to support, and supporters of any football team come and watch a game of football.”
