STOURBRIDGE’S FA Cup goal hero Dan Scarr is on trial with Premier League side West Bromwich Albion after impressing for the Glassboys.

The central defender, 22, scored three times in Stourbridge’s run to the third round of the Cup, netting the equaliser against Wycombe on Saturday.

The Glassboys eventually lost the game 2-1 but Scarr and his team-mates have stolen headlines this season with their brilliant displays, including in the second round against League One outfit Northampton Town.

Scarr has made 83 appearances for Evo-Stik NPL Premier side Stourbridge since joining from Redditch United in the summer of 2015.

He has forged a formidable partnership with centre-half partner Jack Duggan in recent times for the Glassboys and Gary Hackett’s men have conceded just once in their last five league games.

Hackett has now confirmed that Scarr, who is under contract at Amblecote, is attracting interest and will spend time training with West Brom after the Baggies asked to run the rule over the youngster.

Boss Hackett told the club’s website: “We’ve had enquiries about Dan from a number of clubs, and West Brom have asked to take a look at him. He’s gone over there with our blessing and we’ll see what develops. The ball is in their court.

“Dan is under contract with us at the present time, but I’d like to think we wouldn’t stand in the way of any player progressing. Dan’s been playing really well lately and it’s no surprise one or two people are taking notice.”
