Maidstone boss Jay Saunders responds to rumored interest in Alfie Pavey

Pavey played a key role in Dartford’s promotion bid this season, finding the net 22 times.

Maidstone United manager Jay Saunders has refused to rule out a possible swoop for Dartford striker Alfie Pavey after rumours linking the National League South marksman with a possible move to the Gallagher Stadium emerged.
Pavey, who came through the Stones’ academy, played a key role in Dartford’s promotion bid this season, with the former Millwall front man finding the net 22 times to finish the campaign in third place in the National League South goal scoring charts.
Speaking to the Kent Messenger, Saunders said: “I know Alf really well and there’ll be a lot of interest in him.
“He’s someone I’ve watched closely this year but we’ve got a lot of targets.
“That year he went to Millwall he’d played a couple of pre-season games for me and trained with the first team.
“I’ve always liked Alf, he’s a good lad and I’ve kept in contact with him.”
The 22-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, joined Dartford in August after a short spell with fellow National League South club Welling United. The striker was released by Millwall last summer following a four year spell with the South London club, where he made six first team appearances.
