Michael Collins announces retirement to take up Bradford City job

large-17

FC Halifax Town midfielder Michael Collins has hung up his boots in order to take the managerial job at League One side Bradford City.
Collins came out of retirement to join the Shaymen on a short term contract last season and went on to make 22 first team appearances as Halifax finished up in 16th position in the National League table.
The 32-year-old former midfielder has become the youngest manager in the top four English divisions.
FC Halifax manager Jamie Fullarton told the club’s official website, ““Due to the change to morning training and Michael’s coaching career progressing at Bradford City, Michael has taken the decision to retire from playing to focus fully on coaching.
“Michael will be missed for his influence on the pitch and in the dressing room but we respect his decision and wish him well. We’ve made it clear that should his situation change then he would be welcomed back to play for FC Halifax Town.”
