Gloucester City manager Chris Todd: We are in a relegation scrap

Chris Todd has admitted Gloucester City are in a relegation battle but has vowed to turn their season around.
The Tigers suffered a damaging 3-1 defeat at home to bottom club Weston-super-Mare yesterday which saw them slip in the National League South drop zone.
Todd, the former Eastleigh boss, was appointed in October and is yet to oversee a victory in the league with the club having not won in 16 games.
Odin Bailey put the hosts ahead on New Year’s Day early in the second half but Marlon Jackson equalised for Weston before Jamie Lucas and Elijah Phipps secured a crucial three points and piled the pressure on Todd, who released a statement this morning.
“To all Gloucester City fans, yesterday was a massive low for everyone involved with the football club,” he said. “There is no one hurting more this morning than myself, I can promise you that.
“After such a positive first-half performance, the second half was a huge letdown and disappointment. As the manager of the football club, I take full responsibility and do not accept that second half’s display.
“What yesterday did do is prove we are in a relegation scrap and realisation that we are not good enough at the present time and could go down. This has not been right all season and cracks have been papered over. I am however very capable of turning this situation around.
“I will do everything in my power to make this happen. There is a plan in place and things will happen in the next few days. We as a club can only do this together and need everyone pulling in the right direction.”
