Non-League Show

This week it’s all about the dream and the competition for promotion.
Dave Anderson joins Tim Fuell as they speak with Peterborough Sports manager Jimmy Dean on chasing success in the Southern League Division One Central and why he thinks it is easier than the challenge the faced last year in the Northern Premier League.
Next up is Jason Ainsley, manager at Spennymoor Town on challenging for promotion to the National League less than 15 years since they reformed and started in Division Two of the Northern League.
Marc White was chairman and manager of Dorking Wanderers 20 years ago when they started out in the Crawley and District League. Now 12 promotions in 18 seasons later they are nine points clear at the top of the Isthmian Premier League, in a new state of the art ground with a growing fan base and team of volunteers, surrounded by an air of expectancy.
Offering a round up from The Non-League Paper towers this week is online editor David Richardson with a run down on this week’s FA Trophy and FA Vase draws, Colwyn Bay facing decisions about their future, Jim Cooper back in management at Grays Athletic and an explanation of how the play-offs at Steps 3 and 4 work this year.

  • Postponed games have disappeared

FANS’ FORUM WHAT on earth has happened to the results on the Step 3&4 league websites this season? For some strange reason, matches in recent weeks that have been postponed or abandoned – such was the NPL East game between Brighouse Town and Lincoln United on Wednesday night – have...

‘I am The Secret Footballer’ – Dave Kitson ends football’s longest guessing game

For years, football fans played detective. Every new “Secret Footballer” column dropped like a clue. The voice was too inside to be a journalist. Too sharp to be a club statement. Too honest to be anyone with a contract still to protect. Now the guessing is over...
