Talking Points: The big stories in Non-League

1 – What has happened to North Ferriby United? 

You have got to spare a thought for fans of North Ferriby.
Just three four ago the club were celebrating winning the FA Vase at Wembley, however after suffering back to back relégations, whilst extremely unpopular attempts to both re-locate and re-name the club rumbled on in the background, the club were official wound up on Friday.
It marks the culmination of what has been a disastrous three years, which has followed on from the ownership of Steve and Eman Forster.
However, out of darkness there could well be light.
We reported on our front page last weekend that former Chairman and club legend Les Hare is in the process of putting together a consortium to potentially re-start a North Ferriby side in Step 5 in time for next season.

2 – How did the England C team fare against Wales last night? 

Paul Fairclough’s side put in a battling display at Salford City’s impressive Moor Lane stadium last night against a Wales C team.
The Three Lions will feel unlucky to have not come away with the victory having twice gone ahead through goals from a Nathan Peate own goal and a superb free kick from Kurt Willoughby.
However Welsh goals from Kayne McLaggon and substitute Adam Roscow ensured that the spoils were split at full-time.

3 – What is the current state of play after the first legs in the FA Trophy semi-finals? 

We are into the business end of the FA Trophy now with the arch of Wembley stadium firmly in view for the four clubs left in the competition.
In truth both semi-final ties are too tight to really call.
Leyton Orient edged to a narrow 1-0 win in an extremely closely fought contest against National League North side AFC Telford, while AFC Fylde and Stockport could not be separated at Mill Farm.
With the second legs quickly coming up this weekend, both games promise to be fascinating spectacles!

4 – How is the relegation battle at the bottom of the National League shaping up? 

Last night Barnet secured a crucial three points over Harrogate Town, which seems to have left the bottom four clubs of Havant & Waterlooville, Aldershot Town, Maidstone United and Braintree Town looking increasingly cut adrift in the danger zone.

With just a matter of weeks left of the season, those clubs in the relegation zone will really need to pull something special out of the bag if they are to retain their National League status.
5 – What is going on at Colwyn Bay? 
With the club in an increasingly difficult financial position, supporters at Colwyn Bay have voted by a large majority to apply to re-join the Welsh footballing structure in time for next season.
If the application is successful, The Seagulls, who are currently sitting in 10th position in the Evo-Stik West division, will find out which tier of the Welsh pyramid they will be allocated to at a hearing on 29th March.
