Danny Kedwell puts pen to paper for new club

Danny Kedwell

Following on from the signing of Sam Magri this afternoon, Havant & Waterlooville have brought in a second ex-Ebbsfleet player in a matter of hours by announcing the arrival or experienced striker Danny Kedwell.
The 35-year-old has enjoyed a distinguished playing career, which has seen him have prolific campaigns in both the EFL and Non-League.
One of the highlights of Kedwell’s career saw him fire home the winning penalty at the Etihad Stadium against Luton Town in 2011 to secure AFC Wimbledon an emotional promotion from the National League, before proudly lifting the trophy as captain.
His form for the Dons resulted in Kedwell being rewarded with a move to Gillingham, where he found the net 40 times during a successful four year spell at Priestfield.
A move to Ebbsfleet followed, where the striker was part of Fleet’s National League South promotion winning campaign in 2017, however it was revealed last week that he would be leaving Stonebridge Road.
It has also been announced that Kewell will be wearing the captain’s armband for the Hawks next season, as Paul Doswell’s side look to make an immediate return to the National League.
The Havant boss told the club’s official website,Danny was my number one target when I knew he was available.
“He’s a fantastic centre forward, someone who will help Jonah and Alfie Rutherford immensely.
“He will be captain of this football club and someone who will bring leadership, enthusiasm and ability.”
