Hot-shot Jordan Burrow is warning against complacency at National North leaders York City.

The striker, pictured, issued his wake-up call ahead of his side’s Tuesday night clash at fourth-placed Guiseley despite the unbeaten Minstermen sitting on top of the table with 20 points from eight games.
York City are also the joint fourth-highest goalscorers across the league with 17 with Burrow contributing four, including one in Saturday’s 3-2 win at Gloucester City.

The striker told yorkpress.co.uk on Monday: “The main thing is that the team’s made a good start this season. We’ve picked up a lot of points so far and we need to keep our standards high and keep improving week on week.
“Some games aren’t going to be pretty, we’ll have to grind them out and that’s what we did on Saturday. Hopefully we’ll play a bit better on Tuesday, keep winning and remain unbeaten.
“It’s always a nice start to the season, scoring goals as a striker. It’s a team game at the moment. The whole team’s pulling in the right direction and to win six and draw two from the first eight games, that’s a great start.
“I’ve got personal targets but you keep them in house as a striker. Hopefully if I can get there, the team can get to where it wants to be and needs to be.
“The mood in the dressing room is really good at the moment. Winning’s a habit and if we can keep that mentality, we’ll be alright.”
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s trip, he added: “They’re an energetic team, full of legs and we’re going to have to match their enthusiasm and endeavour to get a result.
“It’s going to be a tough place to go. They’ve started well, but so have we. We’re a confident bunch. We’re looking to go down there and get three points.”
