Steve Watt to meet fans after getting Hythe reign underway

New Hythe Town boss Steve Watt is looking forward to a face-to-face meeting with the Isthmian League club’s fans after getting his reign underway.
Named as the successor to Sam Denly following his exit last week, Watt saw his new charges draw 2-2 at home to Whitstable Town in the Velocity Trophy on Tuesday night. The Cannons are 18th in Isthmian South East with three points from their first four matches.
A trip to Phoenix Sports on Saturday Is next up for the newly installed former Margate manager and number two to Jay Saunders at Maidstone United. As a player, Watt turned played for Chelsea and a host of clubs including Barnsley, Swansea City, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Ross County, Grimsby Town, Dover Athletic, Hastings United and Maidstone United, pictured.
Supporters will get a chance to meet the new Cannons boss and his newly announced backroom team at a ‘Meet the Manager’ night at Reachfields next Wednesday (18 September).
Former Brentford, Shrewsbury Town, Dover Athletic and Tonbridge Angels star Nathan Elder will be alongside Watt at the event as his assistant after he left Sittingbourne. Former Maidstone United star and coach Paul Booth is also expected after he was also unveiled as Hythe’s new first team coach on Wednesday.
Next week’s meeting starts at 7.30pm and the Cannons invited supporters to attend in a club statement on Wednesday. “This will be an opportunity to meet new manager, Steve Watt and members of his management team,” said the Canons. “The directors will also be present so it will be an opportunity to come along and ask any questions you might have.”
Watt: “I am excited to join an ambitious club who I believe has great potential for the future. I think that there are great days ahead for Hythe Town and I believe we can achieve our goals.”
Hythe chairman Paul Markland said: “We had many applicants for the role and many were stand out candidates. We are delighted to have secured the services of Steve Watt, an ambitious and experienced manager and football man who we believe will get our promotion push back on track.”
