SALFORD CITY scored twice after the interval to boost their play-off hopes and consign visitors Altrincham to relegation.
The first half was a low-key affair but Simon Richman tested home keeper Jay Lynch with a 14thminute stinger.
Altrincham took the lead eight minutes before half-time when Gary Jones slammed home an unstoppable 25-yard effort after a clearance fell to him.
Salford were struggling and were lucky the referee turned down claims for a penalty after Nicky Clee’s shot hit Billy Priestley’s hand.
