ARRON Johns’ early goal proved enough for Congleton as they defeated Malvern Town in a tightly fought encounter to earn their first fifth-round appearance since 2004.
The Bears had to wait just two minutes for Johns to latch on to a ball over the top from centre-back Alex Morris, controlling well before slotting calmly past keeper Kieron Blackburn.
The early excitement stood in stark contrast to the rest of the opening stages which saw few chances fall to either side.
