ATHERTON Collieries missed a chance to progress as they were held to at home by Bridlington Town.
As expected, it was the Northern Premier League outfit who started the strongest.
And they took the lead inside the first minute through midfielder Scott Sephton’s low drive from distance.
From there, the hosts should really have extended their lead further.
However, poor finishing saw Marcus Cusani, Danny Lambert and Matty Gillam all spurn golden chances to put daylight between them and their opponents.
