■ WARE started the year with a competent display against a hard-working Colney side. They took an early lead thanks to Leigh Rose and Robbie Buchanan who both steered low shots past Tiernan Parker in the home goal.
The home side responded well and often had Ware on the back foot as their defence, in which Jay Lovell was outstanding, was the springboard for attack.
Ware were grateful for Bradley Robinson’s pointblank save to maintain their two-goal advantage.
The visitors took control in the second half and Taufee Skandari scored a third.
