CHAMPIONS HEED FALL JUST SHORT OF CENTURY

CHAMPIONS Gateshead finished the season with a win – but missed out on a century of league goals by just one goal.
Macaulay Langstaff ’s brace saw the striker win the Golden Boot and the Heed would have reached three figures in front of a bumper 4,000-strong crowd but for Bulls’ Danish keeper Andreas Sondergaard.
Langstaff got the party under way on 13 minutes.
Two headers put the Heed hit-man in on the left and he duly found the far corner, Sondergaard then kept his side in the game with a string of saves.
