■ SLIMBRIDGE collected their first league win of the season with a clinical defensive display against a disappointing Bashley.
Slimbridge were first to go close when Edjidja Mbunga narrowly failed to connect with Joe Shutt’s low cross in front of a gaping goal, but the rest of the first half belonged to Bashley, culminating in a massive scramble in the Slimbridge goalmouth.
At least three Bashley close-range shots were either blocked or cleared on the line — but the home side were never to go so close again.
