JORDY Mongoy headed a second-half winner for South Shields to close the gap on league leaders Tamworth to three points in front of a bumper 2,309 crowd at the 1st Cloud Arena.
For the Lambs, who dominated the first half, it was a second consecutive narrow defeat on the road this week.
Shields, unbeaten on home soil, created the best chance of the opening half when frontman Paul Blackett hit the post.
