NATIONAL League leaders Chesterfield are hoping they won’t be facing a Christmas headache with manager Paul Cook reportedly in the frame for the vacant position at Plymouth Argyle.
Cook has proved a huge hit in his second spell in charge of the Spireites, who are clear at the top of the table and charging full steam for a Football League return.
Chesterfield are also preparing to face Watford in the third round of the FA Cup next month but first they face a battle to keep the 56-year-old Liverpudlian, who has proven EFL credentials as manager of Wigan Athletic, Portsmouth and Ipswich Town. Plymouth are on the lookout for a new boss after Steven Schumacher left to take charge of Championship rivals Stoke City earlier this week.
According to the bookies Parimatch, Cook was 5/2 favourite on Friday to land the role with Everton U18 head coach Leighton Baines and former Brighton and Sunderland boss Gus Poyet also in the frame.
