Match Preview: Slough Town v Welling United (Saturday, 3pm)

Welling United face Slough Town on Saturday seeking to protect their long unbeaten run in the National League South.

The Wings are unbeaten in five, with two wins and three draws, ahead of the 3pm kick-off.

They face a Slough team who have won two and drawn two over the same number of games.

With 84 goals in 45 games so far this season, Slough are the league’s second-highest scorers with 1.9 goals per game. But they are conceding more than average too, letting in 70 goals at a rate of 1.6 per game.

Welling, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.2 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have conceded 1.6 goals per game.

In the last 10 years, Slough and Welling have played each other on 10 occasions. Slough won four of them, Welling three, and they drew three times.

On average, Slough scored 1.6 goals and the Wings 1.7 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on November 11, when Welling won 4-3 at home.

United are 17th in the table after 45 games, of which they have won 12 and drawn 17, earning 53 points.

Town are seven places ahead of the Wings in 10th, with 18 wins and 13 draws putting them on 67 points.

Slough’s last match was on April 13, a 3-2 win against Hemel Hempstead Town.

Welling drew 0-0 with Weymouth last time out, also on April 13.
