Step 3

Frome secure vital points

FROME TOWN 3

SWINDON S’MNE 0

FROME Town secured an impressive victory over county neighbours Swindon Supermarine thanks to goals from Alex Monks, Archie Ferris and Albie Hopkins to give their survival hopes a significant boost.

Despite heading into the game bottom of the league, optimism was high in the Robins’ camp following their second win of the season against Hanwell Town in their previous outing. The confidence was evident from the start as in the fourth minute Rex Mannings laid off for Monks who’s stunning 20-yard strike found the bottom corner, giving Frome an early lead.

The Marine looked for an immediate response, but struggled to create any clear-cut chances, though they looked dangerous down the wings, the final ball was lacking, and Kyle Phillips wasn’t forced into any spectacular first half saves.

The second half saw the hosts double their advantage less than ten minutes after the restart as a pinpoint free kick from Hopkins was expertly flicked up and over Daniel Brahman by Ferris, who scored his first league goal for his side since signing in November.

The pair then combined for the third goal, this time switching roles, although Hopkins fed Ferris through, the unselfishly pulled back for Hopkins, who sat the final defender down before rolling the ball into the bottom corner, completing a commanding victory.
