■ SHEPPEY shrugged off an early setback to beat Lancing with a late winner.
The Sussex side led after only eight minutes when captain Alex Laing was left unmarked from a corner and volleyed in.
The home side’s only chance in the first half was saved by James Dillon in the Lancing goal.
The Ites were eventually level after 67 minutes when their captain, Dan Bradshaw, scored after good build-up play through the middle.
