■ ATHERTON picked up a confident and assured victory against play-off hopefuls Trafford to reaffirm their bid for a ninth successive season in the division.
The Stripes began how they intended to go on, with Danny Lafferty notching an early goal after a header from Joe Piggott. The latter turned finisher 20 minutes later, prodding home from an Aaron Dwyer cross.
Icing was added to the cake in the final ten minutes, with Aaron Dwyer scoring through a keeping mishap. Tom Bentham ultimately rounded scoring with his first touch, against a Whites side...
