CALVELEY BRACE RAISES MAGPIES

THE PLATFORM for Chorley’s victory in this rough-and-tumble contest was built courtesy of goals from Chorley midfielder Mike Calveley. The win lifts the Magpies into fifth place but for Alfreton Town the slide down the table continues with this 10th league game without a win.
The visitors were largely reliant on long throws by Adam Lunt. But the Magpies’ defence coped with the aerial bombardment and it was only in added time that Town looked like at least reducing the arrears.
