Second places have no excuses

I AM fully in favour of the play-offs, mainly because it is difficult for National League clubs financially and to keep fans coming to the end of the season. They need something to play for as late as possible.
My club Hednesford have been promoted three times in the playoffs since I’ve supported them. For two of those seasons, we finished second in the league and were by far the better team of the play-off contenders.
Both times I knew we would be promoted because we were so much better than the other teams and both times we did get promoted.
