COTON Green displayed impressive resilience to produce a historic 2-1 victory over Rugby Town in this extra preliminary round tie at New Mill Lane.
It was Coton’s first appearance in the FA Cup and they started the game in blistering fashion when Jay Henry’s cross wasn’t dealt with and when it fell to Corey Powell, he made no mistake to open the scoring after two minutes.
Rugby controlled the rest of the first half with Olly West and Sam Tye both heading agonisingly wide from dangerous corner routines.
