■ PICKERING Town marched into the second round qualifying of the FA Cup thanks to a superb victory over Redcar Athletic on Friday night.
The Steelmen made the perfect start when they took the lead in only the second minute, Adam Boyes profiting from a Pikes error.
Alfie Burnett produced a wonder double-save to deny Redcar a second before George Brown scored twice in a nine-minute spell to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
Joe Wood stretched the lead soon after the resumption, but a Bradley Fewster penalty kept Redcar in it.
