A late Jonathan Lacey penalty earned the points for Berkhamsted as Havant & Waterlooville’s Harvey Bradbury saw red.
It came after the home side were forced to make an early change as Adam Watkins was taken off injured and replaced by Charley Barker after only five minutes.
Berkhamsted were ahead after 18 minutes when Lacey ran the length of the pitch, cut inside and shot across Havant keeper Lorenz Ferdinand with the ball bouncing up over his hands and into the bottom corner.
