The National League promotion race is hotting up as we head towards December – and here’s hoping the cold, harsh UK weather doesn’t put a dampener on the action this weekend.

There were changes afoot to the title picture last weekend as Forest Green Rovers assumed top spot with victory over Gateshead, Carlisle United slipped with a draw against Eastleigh, whilst rivals Rochdale and York City also picked up three points.

Carlisle and Rochdale are both in the live action this Saturday, taking on Boston United and Tamworth respectively, with a tasty rivalry between struggling Aldershot Town and Woking also on the bill.

Aldershot Town vs Woking

The National League weekend kicks off this Saturday lunchtime with two live games from the fifth tier, including Woking’s trip to Aldershot.

The Shots’ miserable run continued last weekend as they suffered a sixth consecutive defeat at the hands of Rochdale.

That loss means they are now one place off the foot of the table and three points from safety. 

They welcome a Woking side sitting comfortably in midtable and unbeaten since the end of September – a run of seven games for Neal Ardley’s side. 

Rochdale vs Tamworth

Kick off at 12:30pm GMT on Saturday, 22 November 2025

The Lamb Ground, Kettlebrook, Tamworth

The other lunchtime kick-off sees live action from The Lamb Ground as Tamworth host promotion-chasing Rochdale.

Dale bounced back from their shock thrashing at the hands of York by getting back to winning ways last weekend, with a 1-0 victory over Aldershot that sees them only a point off league leaders Forest Green.

Jim McNulty’s side also have two games in hand on most of the teams around them, but won’t want to slip up as they travel to Tamworth.

The Lambs pulled off a surprise win over high-flying Boreham Wood last time out, halting a run of three consecutive defeats, so they’ll be in a buoyant mood ahead of the live offering from DAZN.

Boston United vs Carlisle United

Kick off at 5:30pm GMT on Saturday, 22 November 2025

The National League weekend wraps up with Saturday’s teamtime action when Boston welcomes Carlisle.

These two former EFL clubs lock horns with the sides at opposite ends of the table as we reach the busy winter period of the season.

The Cumbrians lost a little momentum in the promotion chase last weekend, held 1-1 by Eastleigh and now sitting a point off leaders Forest Green in an increasingly congested race.

Boston, meanwhile, are looking over their shoulders at the other end, with only one win in their last five games after last week’s draw with Woking.
