SOUTH Shields topped off Non-League Day in front of a crowd of over 2,000 at Mariners Park with a comfortable victory.
It was a must-win game for both sides, with Alfreton fighting for survival, but it was title-challenging Shields who dominated the game.
Paul Blackett was unfortunate not to have a goal before half-time, and even a penalty as his shot from the edge of the box looked to hit the hands of Jo Cummings as he went to ground.
