Marine have announced that Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher will be supporting the National League North club in an advisory capacity.
The Mariners have enjoyed rapid progression over the last five years, including two promotions, a historic FA Cup third round tie against Tottenham Hotspur and an Isuzu FA Trophy semi-final appearance.
Carragher, a Crosby resident who made 737 appearances for Liverpool, won the UEFA Champions League in 2005, and has since established himself as one of football’s leading analysts and commentators, will assist the board with his connections across football, business and the local community.
James Leary, CEO of Marine, said: “This is a brilliant moment for Marine Football Club.”

He added: “Jamie is someone who genuinely cares about football and the local community, and he’s followed closely what we’ve been building here over the last few years.
“His experience and relationships will be a huge help to the club as we continue moving Marine forward over the coming years.”
Carragher added: “Marine is a proper community football club with good people involved and a clear vision for where it wants to go.
“I’ve enjoyed watching the progress the club has made over recent years and I’m pleased to be able to support the club in an advisory capacity going forward.”
The Lilywhites are embarking on its most ambitious period to date, including plans for a new stadium and continued growth both on and off the pitch.
The club is actively exploring partnerships with like-minded individuals and organisations who share Marine’s long-term vision and want to be part of its journey.
Marine has also secured an option on land for a new stadium development, with a full planning application expected to be submitted to Sefton Council by September.
