JACOB Maddox struck at either end of the first half as Merthyr Town flew out of the traps to bag a fine victory over ambitious Hednesford Town.
The match was less than three minutes old when the Martyrs struck in customary fashion, Jack Evans stealing possession in the middle of the park and steering play to Kieran Evans, who released Maddox to set off on a fine solo run that ended with a tidy low finish past Sam Hornby.
