Radcliffe say Bernard Morley will always be “one of their own” despite standing down from his three-and-a-half year stint as manager.

The former Ramsbottom, Salford City, Chester and Spennymoor boss lives just yards from the Neuven Stadium and took over his “dream job” at Boro alongside Anthony Johnson in May 2023.

The pair guided the club to the NPL Premier Division title in their first season in charge and established them in National League North until Johnson left to take charge of Bury last season.

Morley underlined his commitment to the club by signing a new two-year contract in February but has found life difficult at Step 2 so far this season with Boro losing their opening three games.

Paying tribute to the 42-year-old, the club said: “Radcliffe FC can confirm that Bernard Morley has tendered his resignation as first team manager today. The club has accepted his decision, and he will leave his position with immediate effect.

“We want to place on record our sincere thanks to Bernard Morley and his coaching staff for their hard work, professionalism and contribution during their time at the club.

“Bernard Morley leaves with our best wishes for the future, and will forever be known as ‘one of our own’ who spearheaded the club to become champions of the Northern Premier League Premier Division, before two campaigns in the National League North improving year-on-year; creating countless memories for the town of Radcliffe.”

Assistant manager Steve Halford and first-team coach Luke Clark have also departed with Nicky Adams taking interim charge.
