RICKIE LANDS A NEW ROLE ON THE ISLE

FORMER Southampton, Liverpool and England striker Rickie Lambert has landed a new role – at Step 5 side Newport Isle of Wight.
The 44-year-old has been appointed as the Wessex League club’s vice-president as it enters an exciting new chapter.
Lambert was at the official opening of the new Wightfibre Park stadium last Saturday, where he met players, volunteers and supporters.
He has been getting to know the club over the past three years and has supported the club through a difficult period as they battled to survive.
