Lewis Smith has left Dartford after just two weeks with the Conference Premier club.

LEWIS SMITH has left Dartford after just two weeks with the Conference Premier club.

The striker arrived at Princes Park in June after scoring 12 times for AFC Hornchurch last season.

The Urchins were relegated from the Conference South by the 23-year-old got the chance to demonstrate his talent at a higher level by joining the Darts.

However, a change of professional circumstances mean he will spend the next three months working in Australia so has had to leave Dartford.

Darts boss Tony Burman is disappointed to lose him but says he’ll be welcome back at the club upon his return from Down Under.

Speaking to BBC Radio Kent, Burman said: “Unfortunately, he’s not going to be part of our team at the start of the season but when he comes back, the door will still be open for him.”
