WESTON-SUPER-MARE have appointed former caretaker manager Scott Bartlett as their new boss.

Bartlett, 37, replaces Ryan Northmore who left the Seagulls two weeks ago after eight straight defeats, and his first game in charge will be against Ebbsfleet on Saturday.

A former player and coach at Weston, Bartlett gained some managerial experience at the end of last season when he was put in temporary charge of Forest Green just before the play-offs following Ady Pennock’s dismissal.

He oversaw the play-off semi-final victory over Dover but the Gloucestershire outfit fell at the final hurdle, going down 3-1 to Grimsby at before Mark Cooper was named the club’s permanent boss.

Bartlett reverted to his former role as head of Forest Green’s youth and that is a job he will continue alongside his duties at Weston.

He has a big job on his hands at the Woodspring Stadium, taking over a side that sit 18th in the table having lost eight straight league games.

Bartlett told the club’s website: “I’m really grateful for this opportunity. Weston is a club with a lot of potential which I believe I can take forward.”

Chairman Paul Bliss added: “We are delighted to welcome Scott to our club and work with him to secure our ambition of a play-off position next season.”
