Oxford City hope to address lack of goals with signing of veteran Jefferson Louis

OXFORD CITY will be hoping much-travelled striker Jefferson Louis can help fire the club up the National League South after he signed from Staines Town.

The experienced forward, 37, is well known in Oxfordshire having first come through at Thame United before being snapped up by Oxford United back in 2002.

Since then, the former Dominica international has enjoyed spells at a vast number of clubs in Non-League including Woking, Stevenage, Wrexham, Rushden, Lincoln and Brackley Town.

He has shown no signs of slowing down in recent seasons, earning a move back up to Step 2 with Margate after starring for Hendon.

Louis spent the last two seasons in the National League South with Wealdstone before signing for Ryman Premier side Staines in the summer.

He had scored four times for the Swans so far this season but the opportunity to move back up a division was too good to turn down.

City, however, have struggled so far this campaign and are currently second bottom of the table having won just two of their opening 13 league games, scoring just ten times.

A Staines statement read: “Following interest from Oxford City in striker Jefferson Louis, the club and player have come to a mutual agreement for his release.

“The Vanarama South club have made him a very good offer, which allows Jeff to return to the higher level of football he enjoyed with Wealdstone last season.

“Ever the professional, he has played in almost all of our fixtures this season, and we wish him every success in his future, while thanking him for his hard work on our behalf this year.”
