ANDY WOODMAN has left Whitehawk “by mutual consent” after leading the club to National League South safety.

The former West Ham, Charlton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace goalkeeping coach became the Hawks’ fourth manager of the season in February.

Despite being one of the pre-season favourites for promotion, Whitehawk endured a tough campaign and were two points adrift of safety when Woodman took charge.

However, vital wins against fellow relegation rivals Margate, Welling, Bishop’s Stortford and Gosport Borough were more than enough to secure the Hawks’ Step 2 status.

The Brighton-based outfit ended up finishing 17th in the table and seven points clear of the relegation places but now must search for yet another new boss after Woodman departed.

A club statement read: “Whitehawk FC can today confirm that first team manager Andy Woodman has left the club by mutual consent.

“Andy joined the club in February 2017 with the club in the National League South relegation zone and following changes to many aspects, he led the Hawks to safety, securing a 17th place finish, seven points above the relegation zone.

“Everyone at the club wishes Andy the very best of luck for the future and we wish to place on record our thanks for his services whilst at the club.

“Further information regarding the first team manager position will be posted in due course.”
