SKRILL South high-fliers Eastleigh have announced that manager Richard Hill has signed an 18-month contract.
Former Stevenage boss Hill joined the Spitfires last year and has led them to the play-offs where they were knocked out in the semi-finals by Dover Athletic. They are second in the table this season, trailing leaders Bromley by ten points with two games in hand.
The club are also through to the third round of the FA Trophy where they will host league rivals Dover and the on the field improvement has led to a deal, which also includes an option to extend it a further 12 months, for Hill at the Silverlake Stadium.
Eastleigh chairman Stewart Donald said: “As a board we are very pleased to have been able to secure Richard on a contractual basis. It is no secret he has been attracting interest from other clubs higher up the pyramid.
“We have a great working relationship and do not need a contract but it will hopefully settle a few people down around the club who were concerned there was no formal agreement. In modern football after two wins everyone gets excited and thinks your world beaters, yet two defeats and it's time to change the manager!
“We are building for the long term and we believe Richard is the right man to help us achieve those goals. The fact he has improved things to the extent we almost achieved in his and our first year bodes well.”
