THE Premier League Fans Fund – a three-year, £3.5m commitment from the Premier League – is awarding grants of up to £20,000 to local fan groups.

The fund is there to help improve the relationship between fans and their clubs, the way football supporters engage with each other and fans’ experience of the game.

The grants are aimed at any fan groups, whether they are simply collectives who have come together to improve atmosphere, organised Trusts, or independent fan organisations.

Funding can be sought for a one-off event or a campaign running over three years.

Cathy Long, head of supporter services at the Premier League said: “The Premier League is committed to supporting efforts to strengthen links between clubs and their fans alike.

“We are particularly keen to hear from smaller fan groups, that may be new to the scene and not yet formally constituted, but are keen to play their part in building and improving relationships.”

For example, Vanarama National League North side AFC?Telford can look forward to improving the way they engage with fans after the Telford United Supporters Trust (TUST) received a £20,000 grant from the fund.

Luke Fearnall, TUST chairman, said: “The money has been a real lifeline.”
