CLUBS relegated from League Two into will benefit from increased parachute payments after League sides voted in favour of the move.

The two clubs currently relegated into the receive 50 per cent of the equivalent Basic Award payment made to League Two clubs.

Starting from next season, relegated sides will receive 100 per cent in the first year following relegation from the Elite 92.

They will then receive the 50 per cent fee, unless the club is promoted back to the at the first time of asking.

Last season Bristol Rovers became the first club to achieve that feat since Carlisle United did it back in 2005.

“In recent seasons we’ve seen a number of clubs suffer severe financial trauma following relegation from The Football League and in some cases fold altogether,” said Football League chief executive Shaun Harvey.
