Norwegian fan boosts Scarborough’s plans to move home

A NORWEGIAN supporter has stumped up £20,000 of his own cash to help the club move back home.

The Seadogs have been playing 17 miles down the east coast in Bridlington since their formation in 2007 from the ashes of Scarborough FC.

Their dream of moving back to Scarborough looks set to become a reality and the club is partly indebted to Norwegian Are Guttelvik.

Guttelvik fell in love with Scarborough FC during his youth and currently runs the Norwegian branch of Athletic's supporters' club which boasts 130 members.

The £20,000 Guttelvik pledged has gone towards the pot for the new 2,000 seater stadium which the club hope to move into by the end of 2016.

“I came to Yorkshire in 1971 and I'd heard and read about Scarborough,” Guttelvik  said.

“Then, in 1987, when the club was promoted from the Conference and into the League, I realised that would be the club I'd support. I fell in love with Yorkshire and Scarborough.

“We have a football club, but now we need a football ground that we can call our own. I just hope it means more people will come to support us then.”
