LUKE GARRARD is backing his in-form side to kick on from Saturday's impressive victory over – but insists they will not be resting on their laurels as they prepare for the trip to leaders tonight.
Garrard issued the war cry during a team huddle after the 2-0 victory over the O's at Meadow Lane on Saturday – a result which took his team to within three points of top spot.
Now the Wood chief is hoping his side can string together a consistent run of form, starting with a positive result against Chris Kinnear's high-fliers at Crabble tonight.
“There will be confidence on Tuesday,” Garrard said. “I said to the boys in the huddle after the Orient game, ‘let's kick on now'. ‘Let's not settle for a win against Leyton Orient and be happy, let's go to Dover and really cause them problems'.
“As soon as they landed back in the building on Monday, the focus was on Dover and how we can kick on again and how we can get back-to-back wins, like we did Torquay to Solihull to Aldershot.
“Back-to-back clean sheets is another ask, that's something else that I want to tick off, but Monday they need to realise that Leyton Orient is done, that is history, and Dover now has to be the focus.”
Garrard may be boosted also by the return of trio Angelo Balanta, Jamie Turley and Ricky Shakes, who missed the Orient game through injury but returned to full training this week.
Indeed, history is on Wood's side having beaten Dover in their last three meetings, scoring 12 goals and conceding just once in the process.
However, only four of Kinnear's side featured in any of those games and the Whites go into the match on top spot and looking for a fourth straight win.
“Form should go out of the window, hopefully it will do this time,” Kinnear said after Saturday's fine 2-0 away win at Aldershot. “Dover have had problems with Boreham Wood even before I came. I don't know why, that's just the way it is, I suppose.
“You'd rather be there [at the top] than the other end, but you don't win anything in September. Three games ago there were a few people sulking, and doomsters, but you can't get too carried away either. You've just got to keep going.
“These are learning all the time, you've got to be proud of these players. They never know when to give in and they'll continue to do that.”
