FA Cup round-up: AFC Mansfield win replay to set up Pilgrims clash

By Matt Badcock

NORTHERN Counties East League AFC Mansfield upset Step 3 Rushall Olympic to book a third round qualifying date with Boston United.

Having played out a goalless draw at the first attempt, the Step 5 side had to come from behind to beat the Pics.

Matty Plummer levelled on 55 minutes before Ollie Fearn put them into the lead just two minutes later.

The Bulls will now play Boston after they came through their replay with Haughmond last night.

Adam Murray’s Pilgrims were far more convincing following Saturday’s 1-1 draw, with a 5-0 win thanks to goals from James Clifton (2), Jay Rollins. Gregg Smith and a Kabongo Tshimanga penalty.

United’s lower league neighbours, Boston Town, now know their opponents in the next round. They’ll take on Hyde United, who upset Warrington Town with a 2-0 win. Karl Jones put the Step 4 side in front and then James McCarten’s own goal doubled the advantage.

Burgess Hill Town were comfortable in a 3-0 victory at Colney Heath.

FC United swept Handsworth Parramore aside at the second time of asking with Connor McCarthy firing a hat-trick in a 6-2 win.

Jake Robinson took home the match ball at Billericay after his treble in their 5-0 win against Thamesmead Town. The striker has now scored 14 goals in all competitions this season.

Alfreton Town were 3-1 winners at AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Hemel Hempstead beat Wingate & Finchley 2-1 and Hampton & Richmond ran out 3-0 victors at Potters Bar Town.

FC Romania were beaten 2-0 by Hayes & Yeading United after extra time, while Braintree Town won 2-1 at Royston Town. The Iron’s reward is an away date with National League North high-flyers Brackley Town.

And it went all the way between Phoenix Sports and Glebe. The pair were locked at 1-1 after 120 minutes before Phoenix Sports won 5-4 on penalties. They will play Enfield Town, who hammered Hanwell Town 5-0.
