The NLP’s National League Team of the Day

By Matt Bishop
After a thrilling weekend in the National League treated us to a heap of late goals and saw Macclesfield extend their lead at the top, here's our Team of Day for you to disagree with…

Goalkeeper: Mark Cousins

Club: Dagenham &
Despite Daggers going down to ten men, Cousins did well against Wrexham as 's side battled brilliantly. The shot-topper produced a string of fine saves, before his luck ran out with just seconds remaining.

Defender: Carl Magnay

Club: Hartlepool United
After a difficult start to life in the National League, Hartlepool are starting to adjust to life in the top-tier of Non-League. Magnay has played a starring role in that upturn in form, and was bright at both ends of the pitch against Sutton.

Defender: Loui Fazakerley

Club: Dover Athletic
Dover lost ground on the leaders Macclesfield, but were happy with a point against Maidenhead. Fazakerley was a rock at the back for the Whites but could do nothing about the Magpies equalising late on.

Defender: Jack Holland

Club:
Bromley's impressive home form continued against , comfortably winning 2-0. Holland headed home the crucial opener and then kept out the Cards with a sterling performance at the back to preserve a deserved clean sheet.

Midfielder: Elliott Durrell

Club: Macclesfield Town
Macclesfield are absolutely flying right now, and made it five wins on the bounce with a fantastic performance at . Durrell was the best player on the pitch on Saturday, and his form and fitness could be vital if Macc are to go up.

Midfielder: Andy Drury

Club: Ebbsfleet United
It was nervy at the end, but Ebbsfleet deserved their win over on Saturday and Andy Drury played a starring role. The experienced midfielder was behind all Fleet's best moves to help the club secure their 300th win in the top tier of Non-League.

Midfielder: Kevan Hurst

Club: Guiseley
At times on Saturday, Guiseley were absolutely rampant with left-winger Hurst a constant threat to Solihull in what was a thrilling encounter.

Forward: Shaun Jeffers

Club:
Jeffers opened the scoring against , and proved a handful throughout as Wood heaped the misery on Marcus Bignot's side. Despite Nayl Bell's late goal, Jeffers played a big role in what was an excellent away performance.

Forward: George Waring

Club: FC Hailfax Town
What an introduction! Halifax were left frustrated by lowly Torquay, but Waring's performance was very encouraging. The striker only joined the club 24 hours before kick-off but made an immediate impression with a debut goal.

Forward: Ben Williamson

Club:
Ben Strevens secured the points for Eastleigh on Saturday, but Williamson was Man of the Match. He took just four minutes to open the scoring and gave , who are really struggling, a torrid time throughout.
