Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon’s hopes of continuing his side’s push for promotion are set to be boosted by an emptying medical room.
Rovers have been resurgent after a slow start to the season and as the season nears the turn of the year Mellon provided an update on the short and long-term absentees.
“We have Jeff Hughes who probably wasn’t ready to start on Saturday but was on the bench against Torquay,” Mellon confirmed, after the midfielder’s month long stay on the sidelines.
“We’ll have Liam Ridehalgh back, so our numbers will be boosted by that.”
With Jay Harris also joining Hughes on the bench for the 3-0 victory over the Seagulls, Mellon added that long-term absentee Jake Kirby was also showing good signs of progress in his recovery from a broken leg.
“We got Jake Kirby half a game last week in the Liverpool Senior Cup tie, so that’s a bonus and we’ll work on stepping up his training because he’s another important player for us as well.
“So we’ll try and get those numbers back up and get those game changers back as soon as we can.”
Ninth-place Rovers are on an eight-game unbeaten streak in the National League and travel to bottom of the table Solihull Moors on Saturday.
