Gateshead takeover moves a step closer as deal agreed in principle

owners Richard and Julie Bennett moved a step closer to selling the club as it was confirmed that a takeover deal has been agreed in principle with an oversees consortium.
The takeover now faces the final hurdle of receiving FA and ratification before a deal can be officially confirmed.
Gateshead's Managing Director Brain Waites told the club's official website, “It has been a frantic and intense period.
“Our potential new owners have supported their interest with an exciting new vision for the future and it is their intention to remain full-time and retain both the and operational management teams.
“We will continue to work closely over the next few weeks with both the consortium, and National League to conclude the deal as quickly and efficiently as we possible can.”
Richard and Julie Bennett announced their intention to sell the National League club at the start of April, after three years at the helm, and are believed to have entered takeover discussions with a number of interested parties over the past few months.
