Dagenham & Redbridge taken over by American consortium

Better times seem to be on the horizon for Dagenham & Redbridge after the National League club were taken over by American Consortium, Victoria Road Football LLC on Friday.

The American group, which is led by led by businessmen Peter Freund and Craig Unger and former Premier League goalkeeper, Tim Howard, have purchased a majority of shares in the East London club.

Both Freund and Unger have plenty of experience of working in the sports industry. Freund’s company Trinity Sports Holding have interests in Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees and Minor League Baseball’s Memphis Redbirds, Charleston RiverDogs and Williamsport Crosscutters. Meanwhile, Unger owns shares in Minor League Baseball team Memphis Redbirds and future USL side Memphis 901 FC.

Howard is an individual who is well known to English football fans, having previously played in the Premier League for Manchester United and Everton.

The former United States goalkeeper is currently playing back in his homeland for MLS side Colorado Rapids.
