Terry Brown becomes Basingstoke Town manager as club legend Jason Bristow moves on to Eastleigh

Basingstoke Town have been forced into a managerial reshuffle.

Boss Jason Bristow has left to become Ben Strevens’ assistant at National League side Eastleigh.

Bristow leaves the Dragons after 19 years at the club as a player, coach, academy manager, assistant and first team manager.

Basingstoke’s highly experienced director of football Terry Brown has stepped in to become their new manager with immediate effect.

A club statement read: “He rightly deserves the position he has been offered and accepted at Eastleigh, and he goes with our complete blessing, encouragement and support. He will assist newly appointed Eastleigh manager, Ben Strevens at the Silverlake Stadium.

“We reached the play-offs on two occasions with Jason, creating memories that will last a lifetime for our fans. His many varied roles at the club have always been carried out with unwavering professionalism and with love for our great club. He is of course responsible for building our academy effectively from scratch which is also a credit to him and his endeavour.

“Above all else, Jason is a tremendous person to know and to be around which everyone within the club will testify. Whilst we are all sad to see Jason leave us, we are excited for his future and the opportunity he has earned. We look forward to welcoming him as our guest whenever he so wishes and as he knows, he will always be welcome here at the Camrose.

“We all know Jason will be a huge success at Eastleigh,” added chairman, Rafi Razzak. “Everybody connected with the club wishes him the absolute very best and thanks him for his service.”

Brown said: ”Having had the pleasure of working alongside Jason for over two years, I can honestly say that he is the most dedicated and professional coach I have ever worked with. He will be a great loss to our club.

“The opportunity he has been handed will offer him a new challenge at a much higher level. On behalf of the management and playing staff I would like to thank Jason for everything he has done and wish him the very best for the future.”
